Review-

With a 2×10 Sram drivetrain, carbon cranks, fox suspension and a 67 degree head tube angle – Specialized’s Stumpjumper EVO is a swiss-army of a bike meant to handle many different disciplines of mountain biking.  Offering a laterally stiff frame, Specialized also took into consideration the EVOs designed, making sure the bike looked beautifully mean on all angles.

Bottom Line –

If you’re looking for a full-suspension All-Mountain ride that you can cruise down the steep stuff and grind up hills, the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO is the bike to go after.  Add a dropper post and you’ll be ready for any type of bike-shredding action.

Freebord team invades So Cal

When you have a growing and innovative sport like freebording, gather up all the best riders in the sport and take them on a trip, epic times are to be had.

Traveling south through L.A and finding a great hill with fresh wet slurry on it was fustrating. It was time for the team to head farther south to Orange County.

After finding some of the best hills in Southern California it was not long before the cops came to tell us to leave. They told us about a ban on hills in the city and gave us a pamphlet showing all the banned hills.

Thinking we had won after finding a hill that wasn’t on the list the Dethbox (Freebord van) crashed into a parked Mustang.

It was time to move on to other hills. Heading down south to a popular road in San Clemente everyone got some shredding in without being hassled.

The trip wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the skate park. The shreddage and elbow/hip/ass carnage was exhilerating to watch.

After another day of shredding the team was headed back up north.

Epic hills, cops, car crash, more cops, shredding, getting yelled at by the locals, camping, more shredding, road rash, swell bows, skate parks, and more shredding. Wouldn’t be a Freebord trip without all of this.

Go Skateboarding Day 2011

A skateboard was built for basically one thing. To have fun with. It is a form of expression, how you get from one spot to another. There are so many different types of skateboarding. Different types of skateboards and different skateboarders. Each person mentally has the same goal of having fun.

Today June 21 is national go skateboarding day. Go out push some wood, and wish everyone a happy go skateboarding day. Remember, Safety First!

SDDRL # 30 “Boardstock”

It was another day at the Poway Pump Station as the crew met up for SDDRL #30. After pulling up and seeing such a rad crew of rippers, I knew it would be a good day of racing and hanging out with all the homies.

There was a good mix of racers with all sorts of backgrounds. There were skateboard legends, professional riders, new racers and groms all in the mix competing for trophies, cash and glory.

It was an exciting day of racing and the final heat was stacked with talent.

Boogie on down to the downhill disco

Disco balls, dancing shoes and a course designed to test out the skills of everyone who competed. That’s right! It was again time for the 2011 Downhill Disco presented by www.muirskate.com.

The course this year set the bar for years to come. “I think that kickers are going to be the big thing for the next 12 months, so you guys learn how to do them because we’re gonna do it next year too” said www.muiskate.com shop owner Scott Lembach.

With a constant barrage of people coming down the hill and various features set up throughout the course there was never a dull moment.

The riders competing in the event were separated into two different groups based on age. The younger riders were called the Disco Squad and the older group was called the A-Team.

There was a race in which they timed how long it took riders to make it through the course. The course was a cones course designed to be difficult to navigate through. It included jump ramps, tunnels and a hippy jump to make things interesting for the riders and the spectators.

After the race was held for both competing groups a slide jam was held. The slide jam was full of features to help riders keep ripping.

Out of all the features the big kicker ramp was the focal point. Riders were going huge. Many 180’s and even a 360 were thrown down in the list of tricks landed. No big deal.

The gnar bar got raised a step further when 3 brave men decided to lay at the end of the kicker ramp as skaters launched over them. 3 people soon turned to 4. It was then raised again when someone decided to sit in a green plastic chair, letting riders launch clear over his head.

The amount of people launching off the ramps, attempting and landing 180’s and getting some hang time blew me away. Everyone was sliding, and jumping, and moving to the beat.

LADRL # 1 – Great Mountain Race

With the downhill skateboard scene growing and more and more riders participating in the sport, outlaw events have become increasingly popular in the southern California scene.

The Los Angeles Downhill Racing League (LADRL) is a new group of southern California riders looking to compete, go fast and have fun.

The race was held on a road that I would rather not name and provided for a lot of excitement. Spotters were provided on turns to ensure safety.

“Finish line, Angeles National Forest sign. No crossing the yellow” said William Myrvold “Ready, set, kill it!” With that a pack of around 25 skaters took off down the over 7 mile trek downhill looking to win the $200 that would be provided to the winner.

Tim Del Rosario started at the back of the pack, but quickly overtook everyone proving to be the fastest one out there that day. Austin Nicassio came in second and Alex Gradillas came in third.

Be sure to look for more stuff from the LADRL in the near future. There has already been talk of a King of the mountain style race in which everyone times themselves with video footage on a Go Pro camera. The fastest time wins.

Dragon Skate Race 2011

The 2011 Dragon Skate Race held on California Ave in the University of California Irvine was a day full of fun and excitement for everyone.

The event was hosted by UC Irvine’s Beta Theta Pi as a charity event to help raise money for the The Free Wheelchair Mission which is a nonprofit organization that helps provide wheelchairs to people in developing countries that can’t afford one. The wheelchairs cost $59.20 to manufacture.

The race was not held on a very exciting course however the addition of hay bails at the end caused for some great crashes and excitement for the crowd.

Some riders would pin it full speed launching off their boards exploding through the hay bails landing in the street on the other side. Hay bails would disintegrate as riders bailed through them at over 30 m.p.h.

Other riders chose to throw a slide or foot brake before hitting the painfully hard hay bails while lots more riders avoided them completely.

Full padding and helmets were required for all riders. The cost of entry was $10 which got you 2 runs. Each additional run was $5.

The course was set up with a high tech timing system using wires in the ground that would start and then stop the times as riders would cross over them.

What a year so far…

Whats up everyone. It’s been a year so far since we started Adrenaline Fueled. The year has gone by fast and we have learned a lot. Every post has been made by myself Lee Leecifer Eisler and Joseph Dirt Demon Espiritu. Here are some of our favorite memories from this past year. Everyone gathered for a fun day of skating

Shredders, photographers, videographers and spectators met on Jan 22 & 23 on a service road in San Clemente to witness and participate in two days of Southern California’s finest downhill skateboarding.

This was an outlaw event that brought riders from all over California and other surrounding states together for a couple fun days of skateboarding. This event was held on a service road that cars could not drive up making it an ideal location.

The first day of the event, January 22 was the slide jam portion of the event. The second day January 23 was the race portion of the event.

The slide jam featured two different sized kicker ramps and a rad zone. The rad zone was marked by a chalk line and it started just past the second kicker ramp and went into the turn. “If you usually grab rail then get rad and don’t grab it, throw a switch stand up slide, just get rad” said Danny Connor, Event Judge. Anything done in the rad zone was worth more points.

Before the contest began, a police officer came up to talk to us. “You all look like a good group. Everyone’s got their helmets and I saw mom’s bringing coolers up the hill. I wanted to give them a ride up” said the police officer. “Please yield to bikers and pedestrians coming up the hill and there shouldn’t be any problems.”

Skateboarding greats Danny Connor, Marcus Bandy and Max Capps judged the contest. A 20 minute jam session was held. After eliminating part of the field another 20 minute jam session was held. This happened once more with all the finalists and then the winners were decided.

Hunter Schwirtz, Laguna Beach took 1st place, Kody Knoble, Los Angeles took 2^nd and Trevor Watkins, San Diego took 3^rd.

Following the slide jam after the winners were announced, it was time to stoke everyone out with gear from all the sponsors. Everyone was gathered around and stickers were thrown. Wheels were tossed down the hill and everyone started racing to get it. The first person to bring it back would get the set. Trucks were thrown out, dvds, more stickers, bushings, and so much more. It was raining product and stickers and shirts for almost 5 minutes, maybe even more.

The race on the 23^rd was held on the same road. This road is steep and technical. Riders must be able to slide in both directions. The road features 2 lefts and 2 rights and no cars. The whole outside of the track is dirt so riders can really push their speeds not having to worry too much about crashing.

Not as many people showed up for the race but there was still a good turnout. The race was very exciting with many crashes and close competition. At times both racers crashed off the course taking the turn too fast. The races then became a battle to see who could get their board and back on the track the quickest. Everyone seemed to find this very exciting.

Jimmy Riha, San Diego took 1^st place.  AJ Haiby, San Diego took 2^nd place. Chance Gaul, Laguna Beach took 3^rd.

There were a few bad crashes and some riders left with road rash, ripped shirts, torn shorts, but one thing’s for sure, everyone had a good time. –Lee
